Details

An eloquent name for a product that invites contemplation. For the Thinking Man’s Chair, Jasper Morrison envisioned a design in which all the elements are functional contributions that ensure the comfort of the seat for prolonged periods of relaxation and pondering: the areas that support the body are made of flat bars and the main structure is tubular; the armchair has armrests equipped with integrated drink rests.

Jasper Morrison

Born in London, Jasper Morrison graduated from the Royal College of Art in London and opened his first studio in 1986.

Known for his off the grid creativity, Jasper Morrison is one of the most successful industrial designers of the last decades. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa he coined the term 'super-normal' to indicate what a 'good design' should look like. In his projects he aims to create excellent examples of sober, useful and responsible design.

His products are present at the MoMA in New York and other important museums around the world. Morrison gives his projects a minimalist elegance that makes them extremely modern, while posing as a sort of essential archetype linked to the past, always putting the function before the expression.
