The design of Skol, at first glance, brings back memories of times long gone by, sedimented in the collective memory. In fact, the peculiar shapes and the delicate, timeless structure bring to mind the school chairs, coupled with the desks where each person’s experiences took place during the years of childhood and adolescence. The new Skol emerges from the educational environment, while maintaining the reassuring and evocative sensations that have guided Needs Studio’s creative thinking: the general aesthetic simplicity, given by the 25 mm round steel tube structure, contrasts with the refined details, such as the delicate support of the seat and backrest to the frame, supported by the classic rivet fastening, creating a play of lightness and sinuosity. The soft and welcoming yet robust shapes intersect in a play of full and empty spaces, in which absolute comfort and a distinctly retro style with contemporary influences win out.
